Like most players of my generation, I was drawn to the bass by listening to Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius. Thinking that Jaco was playing upright, I began studying double bass and jazz at Virginia Tech under the late, great Joe Kennedy Jr. After graduation and a 15-year musical hiatus, I continued my electric bass studies with Anthony Wellington of the Victor Wooten Band. In 2003, I made a commitment to straight-ahead jazz and the upright bass. After studying in combos with saxophonist Jeff Antoniuk, I formed my own quartet to gain more experience playing in public. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the stage with some of the D.C. area's finest musicians.

For the past few years, I've had the privilege of playing with pianist Prakash Wright and drummer Bobby Beall in the Kash Wright Trio. Despite being committed to straight-ahead jazz, KWT has no musical boundaries. Always inspiring, Kash and Bobby are a constant source of energy, support, education, and motivation. As I move forward on my musical journey, I continue to be inspired by everyone I've played with, many of whom you'll see in the gallery. Peace and Harmony!
